Trump Honors Teen Lifeguard Who Rescued Boy at White House
A 16-year-old lifeguard named Ryder Williams saved a 10-year-old boy named Nathaniel Rai from big waves at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, California, on July 25.
Someone filmed the rescue, and the video became very popular on the internet.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, saw the video and invited the lifeguard and the boy to the White House.
At the White House, Trump called Williams a real hero and joked that Nathaniel was lucky Williams was on duty that day.
The boy's father, Sumit Rai, said he could never repay Williams for saving his son's life.
Williams hopes to become a firefighter and attend paramedic school, and he told young people to try to help others.
The visitors were also going to see President Abraham Lincoln's bedroom and the Cabinet Room.
Trump also talked about a plan to officially call lifeguards "first responders" and said he would look into it.
