J&K Assembly Session Opens Amid Alliance Tensions and Opposition

J&K Assembly Session Opens Amid Alliance Tensions and Opposition

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is meeting for one week in Srinagar.

The Congress and National Conference are allies, but Congress says it will still question the government when needed.

Congress leaders have not yet agreed on whether to formally join the government.

The BJP says it will act as a strong opposition party.

It plans to raise concerns about jobs, roads, development and government decisions.

The National Conference is preparing its members to defend the government and support its bills.

The Assembly will consider seven private members’ bills and two government bills.

Members will also discuss money for government programs and issues such as electricity, water and tourism.

This could make the session politically active and important.
