DMK Protest Demands Water, Loan Waivers Amid Cauvery Crisis

DMK Protest Demands Water, Loan Waivers Amid Cauvery Crisis

Farmers in Tamil Nadu are having a hard time because the Cauvery River is not giving them enough water.

The DMK party, led by Udhayanidhi Stalin and his boss M K Stalin, organized a big protest in Thanjavur to ask the state government to help.

They want the government to cancel all farm loans, stop a dam project called Mekedatu in Karnataka, and say that the Delta districts are in a drought.

Farmers say they lost a lot of money, about Rs 2,500 crore, because they could not grow as many crops.

The DMK says the government is being careless and not keeping its promises.

M K Stalin has asked the Supreme Court to make sure the water rules are followed.

The protest also says the government should give farmers money for seeds and insurance.

The government says it is trying to balance many things, but the DMK says it is not doing enough.

The protest shows how important water and loans are for farmers in Tamil Nadu.
