Despite Increase in Seats, MBBS Seats Remain Vacant in India
The number of seats for medical students (MBBS) in India has grown a lot.
Even though there are more seats, some still aren't filled.
In 2024-25, almost 3,000 seats were empty.
The government says this is because they've built new medical schools and made existing ones better.
They also have rules to make sure the schools are good, with things like proper buildings, teachers, and equipment.
They are also working on adding more seats and improving hospitals to train more doctors.
MBBS seats in India increased by 39% in recent years.
2,849 MBBS seats remained vacant in 2024-25.
The number of MBBS seats rose from 83,275 in 2020-21 to 115,900 in 2024-25.
