Meghalaya Orders Unrecognised Schools to Seek Recognition
The government in Meghalaya is making sure all schools follow the rules.
Schools that aren't officially recognized have six months to get approved.
They need to apply to their local education officers.
If they don't, they will have to close.
Also, new schools can't start unless the government says it's okay.
This is happening because of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.
The goal is to make sure all schools meet certain standards.
Meghalaya government mandates unrecognised schools to obtain recognition within six months.
Schools must submit applications in Form 1 to District School Education Officers (DSEOs).
Failure to comply will result in school closure.
No new schools can open without prior government consent.
The state has a total of 14,601 schools across all types.
