Inside Sabyasachi’s Delhi Museum of Memories and Heritage
Sabyasachi is a fashion designer who created a very large store in Delhi.
He designed it to feel like a museum filled with beautiful and old-looking objects.

Its style is inspired partly by the grand homes and culture of old Calcutta.
Sabyasachi says memories and history help people understand who they are.

Sabyasachi’s 26,000-square-foot Delhi flagship store combines fashion retail with a museum-like display of history and personal memories.
The space features 120 chandeliers, nearly 200 antique carpets, 300 original paintings and more than 100 antique textiles, mirrors and decorative objects.
The designer says the store draws on old Calcutta, European baroque design, Indian craftsmanship and objects collected or recreated by artisans near Kolkata.
Sabyasachi believes museums can help younger people understand history, develop authentic identities and distinguish truth from propaganda and misinformation.
