Delhi Announces Major EV Policy for 2026
The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, has announced a new policy for electric vehicles (EVs) that will start next year.
The main goal of this policy is to reduce pollution in Delhi by encouraging more people to use electric cars instead of petrol and diesel cars.
Petrol and diesel cars release tiny particles called PM2.5 and PM10, which are harmful to our health and the environment.
By making it easier and more beneficial to use EVs, the government hopes to make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone in Delhi.
The policy includes benefits like zero road tax for EVs and additional incentives for scrapping old petrol and diesel cars.
This will help more people switch to electric vehicles and reduce the number of polluting cars on the road.
Delhi's new EV policy will be effective from the next financial year (FY 2026).
The policy aims to reduce pollution by increasing EV adoption.
Petrol and diesel cars are major contributors to PM2.5 and PM10 particulate levels in Delhi.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that increasing EV adoption will directly help reduce pollution.
The policy includes benefits such as zero road tax for EVs and additional scrapping benefits.
