Deepika Padukone Likes Post Criticizing Spirit Controversy
A disagreement about the movie Spirit has become a public controversy.
Pranay Reddy Vanga said Deepika Padukone asked for part of the movie’s profits, her remuneration, and an eight-hour workday.
He said the filmmakers believed this arrangement did not fit the movie’s budget.
Padukone appeared to support an Instagram post criticizing the reaction to her demands.
The post said men in the film industry have often negotiated similar benefits.
It argued that women can be called difficult when they ask for the same things.
Padukone has said her requests were not unfair.
She has not directly commented publicly on the latest claims.
Pranay Reddy Vanga alleged that Deepika Padukone sought 10% of Spirit’s profits, remuneration, and an eight-hour workday.
He said the filmmakers rejected the proposed arrangement because the film’s economics did not work and considered other options.
Padukone seemingly endorsed an Instagram post describing the controversy as a “male-ego” and misogyny crisis.
The post argued that male actors have negotiated profit-sharing and fixed working hours without comparable criticism.
Padukone previously said her demands were not “ridiculously unfair” and that male actors had worked eight-hour shifts for years.
