IIM-Calcutta Student Allowed to Resume Classes After Rape Charge
A student at a business school was accused of a crime and arrested.
After getting out on bail, the school said he could go back to classes.
However, the school is not letting the student return to the hostel where the incident is alleged to have taken place while the police are still looking into what happened.
The school will decide later whether to let him make up the classes he missed.
IIM-Calcutta allowed a student, arrested for alleged rape and out on bail, to resume classes.
The decision followed a request from Paramanand Mahaveer Toppannawar to continue studies.
Toppannawar was arrested on July 12 for allegedly raping a woman.
The institute denied his request to return to hostel accommodation due to the police investigation.
The academic council will decide later if compensatory attendance will be granted.
