NDMC restricts evening street vending across Connaught Place markets

The New Delhi Municipal Council has made a new rule for street sellers in busy parts of New Delhi.

They cannot sell goods after 6:30 pm in places such as Connaught Place and Janpath.

Only approved sellers can use their assigned spaces.

Sellers must show their official certificates when asked.

They must also keep sidewalks and roads clear so people and vehicles can move.

Officials will inspect the markets and take action when the rules are broken.

Traders support the plan because they want public spaces cleared of unauthorised hawkers.

Some shoppers say street sellers are useful because their products are often cheaper than those in large shops.
