Nagaland Becomes India’s Third Most Literate State

Nagaland’s literacy rate has grown from 21.95 per cent in 1963 to 95.7 per cent today.

This makes it the third most literate state in India.

Kerala and Mizoram have higher literacy rates.

Kekhrielhoulie Yhome said teachers played a major role in this progress.

More than 32,000 teachers teach children in Nagaland.

The government wants to improve school buildings, teacher training and lessons.

It also wants students to learn skills needed for the modern world.

Twelve teachers received awards for their work.
