DRI Fines Actress Ranya Rao for Gold Smuggling

Ranya Rao, a Kannada actress, has been fined a large sum, over 100 crore rupees, by the DRI for smuggling gold.

Others were also fined.

She was caught with a significant amount of gold at the Bengaluru airport after returning from Dubai.

The DRI officials prepared detailed notices with supporting documents to serve to the accused.

The actress was sentenced to one year of imprisonment.

A COFEPOSA-related matter came up before the High Court which was posted to September 11.
