KC Canal to Supply Water for 20 Days
The government in Andhra Pradesh has decided to provide water to farmers through the KC Canal for 20 days.
This is to help farmers who are growing crops like jowar, maize, red gram, black gram, and paddy.
The water is coming from the Tungabhadra Reservoir, but there isn't much water available right now.
The government is making sure that all farmers, especially those at the end of the canal, get enough water.
They are also asking farmers to use water carefully so that everyone gets a fair share.
The decision was made after local leaders asked for help, and the government quickly approved the plan.
The district administration will work with different departments to make sure the water is distributed smoothly.
The State government will provide continuous water supply for 20 days through KC Canal to support rabi crop farmers.
The decision aims to safeguard farmers' interests and prevent crop loss in Nandikotkur, Srisailam, and Panyam constituencies.
Water storage levels in Tungabhadra Reservoir are low, and repair works are being undertaken on its 33 gates.
Farmers are growing dry crops like jowar, maize, red gram, and black gram, along with limited paddy, across 50,000 acres.
The government has approved lifting water through the Malyala–Muchumarri Lift Irrigation Scheme following representations by local MLAs.
