Nintendo Taps Samsung for Switch 2 Chip Production
Nintendo, the company that makes the Switch game console, is teaming up with Samsung to make the chips for the new Switch 2.
This is a big deal because Samsung competes with another company called TSMC for these kinds of jobs.
Samsung will build a special chip designed by Nvidia for the Switch 2.
This move could allow Nintendo to sell more than 20 million Switch 2 consoles by the end of March next year.
The original Switch used chips made by a different company.
Nintendo has also asked suppliers to increase production to meet strong demand.
Nintendo has chosen Samsung to manufacture the main chips for its upcoming Switch 2 console.
Samsung is working on a custom chip designed by Nvidia for the Switch 2 using its 8-nanometer node.
The deal may help Nintendo produce over 20 million Switch 2 units by March of the following year.
The original Switch's chipset was manufactured by TSMC.
Samsung also supplies memory chips and displays to Nintendo.
