EU to Vote on Mercosur Trade Deal
The European Union is going to vote next week on whether to sign a big trade agreement with a group of South American countries called Mercosur.
This deal has been in the works for 25 years and would be the largest trade agreement the EU has ever made.
Some countries like Germany and Spain support it because they think it will help the EU find new markets and get important materials.
But other countries like Poland are against it, and France and Italy haven't decided yet.
If the deal is approved, the EU's leader might go to Brazil to sign it by December 20.
If it's not approved, the deal might die.
EU countries to vote early next week on signing the Mercosur trade agreement.
Approval requires a qualified majority of 15 EU members representing 65% of the EU population.
Germany, Spain, and Nordic countries support the agreement, while Poland opposes it.
France and Italy's positions are unclear, and their votes could be crucial.
The agreement would be the largest in terms of tariff reductions that the EU has struck.
