SRMC Expansion Underway to Boost Rayalaseema Water Supply
The government is working to bring more water to Rayalaseema and Nellore by making a big canal bigger.
They're spending money to widen the canal so it can carry more water from the Krishna River.
This project was started before but stopped because of money problems.
Now, the government is restarting the project to help farmers by ensuring they have enough water for their crops.
The canal work must be finished in a short time frame to utilize water before the reservoir fills.
SRMC expansion aims to increase water supply for Rayalaseema and Nellore.
The project will expand discharge capacity from 12,000 to 80,000 cusecs.
Rs 200 crore has been allocated for the project by the state government.
Expansion includes canal widening, bed lining, and canal lining.
