Supreme Court Suggests Wife Remain MLA Amidst UP Leader's Plea
Irfan Solanki, a politician, was found guilty of arson and can't be an MLA anymore.
His wife won a special election to take his place.
The Supreme Court is now reviewing his case, because his conviction stopped him from being an MLA.
The judges wondered why he was fighting the conviction when it allowed his wife to win the election.
The court is asking why he doesn't let his wife remain in office, since there won't be another election for a while.
The court is also considering the arguments that the case against him was not properly handled and asked that it be taken to the High Court for a quicker ruling.
Irfan Solanki is appealing his arson conviction to the Supreme Court.
The conviction led to his disqualification as an MLA.
His wife, Naseem Solanki, won a by-election after his disqualification.
The Supreme Court suggested Solanki allow his wife to remain as the MLA.
