APMWU Demands Withdrawal of Anti-Labour Policies
The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Workers Union (APMWU) is holding a big meeting in Rajamahendravaram from March 10 to 12.
They are very upset about the new labour laws made by the government.
They say these laws are bad for workers because they allow longer working hours and make it harder for workers to form unions or go on strike.
The union leaders are asking the government to make all sanitation workers permanent employees, give retirement benefits to workers who are 60 years old, and provide jobs to the families of retiring workers.
They want the government to change these new laws so that workers' rights are protected.
The 6th State conference of APMWU will be held in Rajamahendravaram from March 10 to 12.
The union alleges that the new Labour Codes undermine workers' rights, including the right to an eight-hour workday and the right to form unions.
Key demands include regularization of sanitation workers, retirement benefits for workers turning 60, and compassionate appointments for family members of retiring workers.
The union criticizes the government for consolidating 44 labour laws into four Labor Codes, which they believe paves the way for labour exploitation.
The meeting was announced by Union State General Secretary P Subbarayudu and presided over by Union Honorary President Tatipaka Madhu.
