Uttar Pradesh Launches Outsourcing Corporation With New Worker Protections
Uttar Pradesh has created a new organization for people who work through outsourcing agencies.
The organization is called the Uttar Pradesh Corporation for Outsourcing Services, or UPCOS.
It will connect workers, agencies and government departments through an online system.
Workers should receive their salaries directly in their bank accounts between the 1st and 5th of each month.
Agencies will not be allowed to take service charges from workers’ salaries.
Companies must inform the government before removing a worker, and the government will investigate.
Workers and their families may receive health and accident insurance, along with help for emergencies, education and marriages.
The government says the program will make outsourced work more secure and dignified.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Uttar Pradesh Corporation for Outsourcing Services, along with its UPCOS portal, website and logo, in Lucknow.
The system is intended to cover more than 3.5 lakh outsourced workers and up to 20 lakh people including their families.
Workers’ salaries are to be deposited directly into bank accounts between the 1st and 5th of each month, with regular EPF and ESI contributions.
The scheme includes accident insurance of ₹20 lakh to ₹40 lakh, health coverage of ₹5 lakh and other support for emergencies, education and family needs.
UPCOS will digitally monitor recruitment, attendance, payments, deductions, gratuity, insurance and service benefits, while allowing workers to file complaints online.
