Naman Dhir Takes Three Wickets on India T20I Debut
Naman Dhir made his first appearance for India in a T20 international cricket match.
He took three wickets while giving away 31 runs.
He had not bowled much in his IPL matches, partly because of a rule that lets teams use an Impact Player.
Dhir said he still practised bowling regularly.
During the match, he saw that the pitch was turning and decided to bowl more slowly.
He said that plan helped him take wickets.
He received the news of his call-up at a Ranji Trophy camp.
Dhir said playing for India was a big dream for him and his hometown.
Naman Dhir took 3 wickets for 31 runs on his T20I debut against West Indies in Lucknow.
Before the match, he had bowled 8.4 overs without taking a wicket in his IPL career.
Dhir said the IPL Impact Player rule had limited his bowling opportunities, but he continued to bowl in practice.
He said he slowed his deliveries on a turning pitch after watching Axar Patel bowl in the powerplay.
Dhir received news of his India call-up while at a Ranji Trophy camp and said his father became emotional.
