India's Oilmeal Exports Dip Due to Soybean Meal Decline
India exported less oilmeal in August.
This is because they sold less soybean meal, which is used for animal feed.
The drop is partly because soybean farmers are growing other crops instead.
On the other hand, India is exporting more rapeseed meal, thanks to high demand from China, because it is cheaper than other options.
The government's ban on exporting de-oiled ricebran is also affecting prices and supply.
The industry is requesting the government lift the ban to deal with excess ricebran.
India's oilmeal exports dropped by 12.1% in August 2025 compared to the previous year.
Soybean meal exports saw a significant decrease.
Overall oilmeal exports declined by 4% during April-August 2025-26.
Exports of rapeseed meal increased, driven by Chinese demand.
The government's ban on de-oiled ricebran exports is still in place.
