Kerala to Upgrade Maveli Stores, Launch 24/7 Outlets
Kerala’s government is making its grocery stores bigger and opening new 24‑hour shops to help people buy food anytime.
The first new shop will open in Ernakulam in September.
The state will also give a lot of rice to the market at low prices in August for the Onam festival.
They want to keep food prices steady and make sure everyone can buy what they need.
The new shops will also sell other items and show ads to bring in extra money for more help.
Kerala will upgrade Maveli Stores into Super Stores and open 24×7 Supplyco convenience outlets.
First 24/7 outlet to open at Vyttila Hub, Ernakulam in September, part of a 100‑day action plan.
The state will supply 1.65 lakh metric tonnes of rice at subsidised rates in August for the Onam season.
Supplyco will use its 1,600‑store network to boost sales of non‑subsidised goods and generate ad revenue for subsidies.
Trade fairs and market interventions will start early August to ensure affordable essential commodities during Onam.
