Waltair Division Achieves Revenue Milestones
The Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway had a very successful year in 2025.
They made a lot of money, about ₹9,030 crore, and moved a huge amount of goods, 73.5 million tonnes.
They also had more passengers than before, with 30.58 million people traveling with them.
To handle special events like the Maha Kumbh Mela and Rath Yatra, they ran extra trains and made sure everything ran smoothly.
They also improved their trains and stations, adding new coaches and making tracks safer.
They even won some awards for being efficient and got a special certification for being eco-friendly.
Many stations are being fixed up under a special program, and they advised passengers to check the new train timings that will start in January 2026.
However, there are concerns about the lack of adequate transport infrastructure to reach the upcoming Bhogapuram Airport, which might cause traffic snarls and additional financial burdens on air passengers.
Waltair Division earned ₹9,030 crore in revenue and handled 73.5 million tonnes of freight up to November 2025.
Passenger traffic grew by 10% to 30.58 million, with 506 special trains operated during peak periods.
Infrastructure upgrades included 360 km of double line commissioned and projects worth ₹1,200 crore inaugurated.
Visakhapatnam station received Platinum-rated Green Railway Station certification and a 4-Star Eat Right Station tag.
Fifteen stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with several nearing completion.
