Eastern Railway celebrates 164th anniversary of heritage Barrackpore station

A very old train station in India had a birthday party.

The station is called Barrackpore and it turned 164 years old.

It was built in 1862 to connect a military camp to the city of Calcutta.

Long ago, Indian soldiers fought against British rulers at this place.

In 1824, soldiers led by Sepoy Bindee Tiwari refused to go to war in Burma.

In 1857, a soldier named Mangal Pandey led a brave revolt there.

Some historians think this was the start of India's fight for freedom.

To celebrate, children recited poems and acted in a play about Mangal Pandey.

Old railway workers were thanked for their years of service.

Everyone sang the National Anthem at the end of the event.
