India Expects BS VII Emission Norms Draft Within Two Months

India is preparing new rules called BS VII to reduce vehicle pollution.

A government official said a draft of the rules may be ready in about two months.

The government still needs to discuss how and when the rules should begin.

Car companies are managing several changes, including electric vehicles, alternative fuels and stricter pollution limits.

The government is also studying why trucks do not travel faster than about 40 kmph on expressways.

Faster trucks could help goods move more efficiently.

Officials said vehicle recycling rules will work only if scrapping and recycling businesses can operate economically.

India is also gaining recognition for its vehicle standards in international discussions.
