RSS commentator Mohandas held over NEET protest remarks
A man named T G Mohandas, who makes political videos online and is connected to a group called the RSS, was picked up by police on Sunday.
He had talked on YouTube about students protesting in Delhi because their medical exam papers were leaked.
In his videos, he said scary things, like police should be pulled back and that 'rapes and murders will happen.'
He also said that if he were in charge, he would order protesters to leave and then start firing at them.
The police said these words could scare people and disturb peace, so they took him from his home in Kochi.
First he had a medical check-up, and then he was taken to the city of Thiruvananthapuram for questioning.
Some people from the BJP party said the police were being unfair and that the case was just to distract from other problems, like flood relief.
Others, like Congress leader K C Venugopal, said the police were right and that no one is above the law.
Police said Mohandas would be questioned in detail as part of the investigation.
RSS leader and right-wing political commentator T G Mohandas was taken into custody on Sunday by a team from the Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police Station.
Mohandas allegedly said in YouTube videos that if police were withdrawn from the Jantar Mantar protest, 'rapes and murders will happen' and that protesters 'like rape.'
He also purportedly said he would impose a curfew, order protesters to disperse, and 'open fire,' with bodies moved to hospitals, to control the protest.
The videos were allegedly uploaded and circulated on July 24 and 25 with the intention of disturbing public tranquillity and creating fear among protesters in Delhi.
The BJP called the custody 'discriminatory' and accused the Kerala government of diverting attention from alleged flood relief lapses, while Congress's K C Venugopal said 'RSS people think they rule this entire country.'

Police custody over remarks
Law enforcement and critics
Mohandas's videos were intended to disturb public peace and create fear, so police were right to register a case, investigate, and take him into custody regardless of his affiliation.
BJP and supporters
The action is 'highly condemnable' and 'discriminatory' — Mohandas was detained on a holiday, and the arrest is meant to divert attention from alleged lapses in flood relief and coastal protests.
Selective enforcement
Law enforcement and critics
Congress's K C Venugopal said 'RSS people think they rule this entire country' and that the Kerala Police is capable of controlling such persons; an FIR must lead to investigation and action.
BJP and supporters
BJP's S Suresh alleged that people who threatened to shoot Prime Minister Narendra Modi are moving freely under the protection of the UDF government, while Mohandas was taken into custody.
Content of the remarks
Law enforcement and critics
The remarks — including claims that rapes and murders would happen and that protesters 'like rape' — were inflammatory and created fear among those at the Jantar Mantar protest.
