Mumbai's underground tunnels to ease traffic
The government of Maharashtra is planning to build a big network of tunnels under Mumbai to help with traffic.
They are calling it 'Paatal Lok', like a road system underground.
This will be like a shadow network to the roads above.
The tunnels will go in many directions and will help people move around the city faster.
There are already some tunnels being built, like from Thane to Borivali and from Mulund to Goregaon.
They also plan to have a special app called Mumbai One where you can use one ticket for different kinds of transport.
The goal is to make travel easier and faster for everyone in Mumbai.
Maharashtra government plans to build a vast underground tunnel network in Mumbai called 'Paatal Lok' to ease traffic congestion.
The tunnels will function as a parallel network to existing arterial routes, improving connectivity and reducing travel times.
Key projects include tunnels from Thane-Borivali, Mulund-Goregaon, Borivali-Goregaon, Worli-Sewri, Bandra-Bandra Kurla Complex, and Atal Setu-Girgaum Chowpatty.
The Mumbai One app will integrate tickets for Metro rail, suburban local trains, and BEST buses, with no fare increase for second-class suburban train travel.
The project aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve the overall transportation experience in Mumbai.
