IIT Guwahati Develops Eco-Friendly Bamboo Composite for Cars
Scientists at IIT Guwahati have made a new material from bamboo to use inside cars instead of plastic.
They mixed bamboo with special, natural glues to make it strong and long-lasting.
This new material is good at handling heat and doesn't soak up water easily, making it a great choice for car parts like dashboards.
The researchers tested different versions of the material and found that one, using a glue called 'FormuLite', worked the best.
This new bamboo material is also cheaper and better for the environment than plastic, costing about Rs 4,300 per kilogram.
They are working on making more of it using special machines.
IIT Guwahati researchers created a bamboo-based composite to replace plastics in car interiors.
The composite uses Bambusa tulda bamboo and biodegradable polymers.
The material offers high strength, thermal stability, and is cost-effective.
The team tested multiple formulations and found one using 'FormuLite' performed best.
The composite is priced at Rs 4,300 per kilogram and suitable for various automotive components.
