Mumbai: BMC Completes Phase 1 of Road Concretization Project
Mumbai is building new concrete roads to make them stronger.
The city started this project two years ago.
They're working on two sets of roads.
In the first set, they've finished about 63%.
In the second set, they've finished about 37%.
They planned to finish more work earlier, but the rainy season caused delays because they couldn't work on the roads during the rain.
The goal is to have most of the first set of roads done by March 2026.
BMC has completed 63% of concretization work on 320 km of roads in Phase 1.
Work orders for the project were issued in January 2023.
Phase 1 involves 700 roads; 343 roads (101.67 km) are fully complete, and 239 are partially complete.
In Phase 2, 1,421 roads (378.36 km) are being concretized, with 36.83% completed.
The project's overall cost is Rs 17,700 crore across both phases.
