Sena (UBT) MP Criticizes New Labour Codes
A politician named Arvind Sawant from the Shiv Sena (UBT) party is very upset about new labour laws that the central government has put in place.
He thinks these laws will make life harder for workers and take away their rights.
He says the government is helping rich business people instead of workers.
The new laws make it easier for companies to close down or change their rules.
Sawant promises to fight against these laws.
The government says the new laws are better because they include all kinds of workers, like those who work on apps or platforms, and make sure they get paid on time.
They also make the old laws simpler by combining them into four main laws.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant criticizes the Centre's new labour codes, stating they will destroy workers' rights and create uncertainty.
The new codes include the Industrial Relations Code-2020, Occupational Safety, Health Code-2020, Social Security Code-2020, and the Code on Wages, 2019.
Sawant accuses the government of aligning with capitalists and the rich, and promises to oppose the implementation of these codes.
The new codes raise the threshold for requiring state permission to shut down a factory from 100 to 300 workers.
The government claims the new codes introduce worker-friendly measures such as timely minimum wages and universal social security, including for gig and platform workers.
