DHS Proposes Significant Fee Cuts for EB-5 Investor Visas
Imagine a special visa for people who want to invest money in the U.S. to help create jobs.
This visa is called the EB-5.
Usually, applying for it costs a lot of money.
But now, the government is thinking about making it cheaper!
They want to lower the prices for individual investors and for the centers that help manage these investments.
This is a big change because many other immigration fees are going up.
The government says they are lowering these fees because they have a better idea of how much it really costs to process the applications.
People can give their opinions on this plan until late next year.
DHS has proposed significant fee cuts for the EB-5 investor visa program, a reversal from rising immigration costs.
The filing fee for the main EB-5 petition (Form I-526/I-526E) could decrease by 14%, and the fee for removing conditions (Form I-829) by 17%.
Regional centers, which consolidate EB-5 investments, could see fee reductions of up to 61% on certain forms.
These proposed fee adjustments are based on updated cost analyses to better reflect adjudication expenses.
The proposal is open for public feedback until December 22, 2025, and aims to make the EB-5 route more affordable.
