Survey: 50% of Indian H-1B Techies Face Racial Discrimination
A survey found that nearly half of Indian tech workers on H-1B visas in the US feel they are treated unfairly because of their race.
Many of these workers are employed at big tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Intuit.
The survey also showed that while some people believe this discrimination affects their chances of getting promoted, others think it's not a big problem.
Most workers who experienced discrimination did not report it, and those who did often saw no change or things got worse.
Some people also talked about other types of bias, like regional or cultural differences, that can happen within the Indian community itself.
Nearly 50% of Indian techies on H-1B visas report experiencing racial discrimination at work.
Majority of respondents work at companies like Google, Microsoft, and Intuit.
44% believe discrimination affects promotions or performance evaluations.
72% of those facing discrimination took no action, while 21% left their companies.
20% of respondents saw improvement after taking action against discrimination.
