Naidu and Chouhan Launch 300,000 Rural Homes in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh has started a project to build 300,000 homes for people who need housing.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched it in Burripalem.
The homes are part of a national rural housing programme.
The government is also testing whether homes can be built by printing concrete in layers.
The test will take place in Burripalem and Obulanayudupalem.
Reports give different totals for the pilot: 175 or 177 homes.
It is expected to cost about ₹14 crore.
Chouhan said the Centre would provide more homes to the state.
Naidu said the state hopes to provide housing to everyone by 2029, and may use the printing method for 5,000 homes if the test succeeds.
N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a 300,000-home project under PMAY-G 2.0 in Burripalem.
The Centre had sanctioned 300,000 homes after the state requested additional allocations; Chouhan promised another 300,000 before this batch is completed and 300,000 more next year.
A pilot will test 3D concrete-printing homes in Burripalem and Obulanayudupalem; reports differ on whether it covers 175 or 177 homes.
