Karnataka HC Rules State Can Direct Generators to Supply Grid
The Karnataka High Court has said that the state government can tell power companies to send their electricity to the grid in special situations.
This is allowed by the Electricity Act.
The court made this decision on December 19 while looking at a case where the government told private companies to supply electricity at a certain price because there wasn't enough hydroelectric power in 2023.
Some private companies didn't agree with this and challenged it, but the court said the government can do this under the law.
