Tobacco Prices Surge in Andhra Pradesh, Benefiting Farmers
Farmers in Andhra Pradesh are celebrating because the price of their tobacco has gone up!
The price reached a record high of Rs 430 per kilogram.
This is because buyers are competing to get the best tobacco at auction centers.
Farmers are happy because they can earn more money.
The government is also letting them sell extra tobacco.
However, some farmers wish the prices had been high earlier in the auction.
The prices are up because of less demand in the international market because of increased production in other countries like Brazil and Zimbabwe.
Virginia tobacco prices have reached record highs in Andhra Pradesh.
The maximum price per kilogram is Rs 430, surpassing last year's high.
Auctions are taking place at Koyyalagudem and Jangareddygudem centers.
Farmers are allowed to sell excess tobacco at a nominal penalty.
