Bihar to Open School in Lalu's Seized Property
In Bihar, the Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, said the government will open a school in a house that was taken from Lalu Prasad, the leader of the RJD party.
This house is in Patna and is currently being used as an office.
Lalu Prasad's wife, Rabri Devi, visited the house but didn't talk to the media.
The RJD party said the government should focus on running its existing schools well instead of taking over properties.
The government has a law that allows them to take properties from people who are accused of corruption if these properties are worth more than what they could afford.
This is the first time a politician's property is being used this way.
Bihar's Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary announced plans to open a school in a seized property of RJD President Lalu Prasad.
The property in question is a two-storey house in MLA Colony, Patna, currently used as an office by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari criticized the move, calling it political vendetta and urging the government to improve its existing schools.
Other seized properties of Lalu Prasad and his family include a flat near Beur jail and a land plot along Bailey Road.
The Bihar Special Courts Act, 2009, allows the government to seize properties of public servants facing corruption charges if the assets are disproportionate to their income.
