Animation Writers at Fred Rogers Productions Unionize
Writers for popular children's animation shows like 'Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood' and 'Alma's Way' have formed a union.
This means they'll now have the same benefits as other writers, like guaranteed pay and health insurance.
The Writers Guild of America East (WGA East) helped them negotiate this.
This agreement follows a similar deal with PBS that writers supported.
This also means that the writers will now be able to secure pension and health contributions as well as residuals from any shows.
Writers for shows like 'Alma’s Way' and 'Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood' unionized.
WGA East officially recognized the union.
The agreement falls under the Public Television Freelance Agreement.
The deal provides writers with better pay, health coverage, and residuals.
This is the first WGA contract to include PBS kids’ animation.
