Visakhapatnam Records Highest Youth Power Score in Andhra Pradesh
A new handbook looks at how many opportunities young people have in Andhra Pradesh.
It compares districts using information from government databases.
Visakhapatnam received the highest youth power score in the state.
The district also has many workers with regular salaried jobs.
Across Andhra Pradesh, fewer than half of young people are in the labour force.
Some young people are unemployed or are not working, studying, or receiving training.
The report says graduates need better employment opportunities and more women should be able to join the workforce.
Speakers said schools, training institutions, and employers should work more closely to prepare young people for available jobs.
The Andhra Pradesh State Handbook of Youth Opportunity was unveiled at a public leadership programme in Visakhapatnam.
The handbook assesses youth opportunities across districts using 180 indicators from 27 government databases.
Visakhapatnam recorded Andhra Pradesh’s highest youth power score, with 60% of workers in regular salaried jobs.
