Gujarat constable, aide held over alleged ₹83,000 bribery

A police constable and another man in Gujarat were accused of asking for bribe money.

The money was allegedly demanded from people involved in a gambling case.

The constable allegedly promised not to beat them when they came to the police station.

The original demand was ₹1 lakh.

It was later reduced to ₹83,000.

The complainant did not want to pay and contacted the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Officers arranged a trap and allegedly caught the two men receiving the money.

The ACB recovered all ₹83,000 and said the investigation will continue.
