Modi Wants Rahman’s India Visit Memorable Amid Hasina Extradition Row

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to receive a warm welcome in India.

Rahman may visit New Delhi for the BRICS summit on September 12–13, but the trip is not confirmed.

India and Bangladesh are having disagreements about former Bangladeshi leader Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh wants India to send Hasina back, while India says it is studying the request under its laws.

Indian envoy Dinesh Trivedi said the two countries should discuss their problems rather than remain stuck in them.

He said trust and communication could improve the relationship.

He also said stronger ties could help people and businesses in both countries.

Indian and Bangladeshi companies are being encouraged to cooperate more in trade and investment.
