Tamil Nadu Expands Women's Welfare Scheme

Tamil Nadu Expands Women's Welfare Scheme

Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, MK Stalin, has expanded a scheme that gives Rs 1,000 every month to women who are the heads of their families.

This scheme, called Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam (KMUT), was started last year and has already helped over 1.14 crore women.

Now, it will help even more women, bringing the total to over 1.3 crore.

The government says this will make life better for women and help them feel more empowered.

The scheme was first thought of by another political leader, Kamal Haasan, and the government has been working to make sure it reaches as many women as possible, especially those who need it the most.

The expansion is seen as a way to gain support from women voters before the upcoming elections.
