China's Largest Compressed-Air Power Plant Opens
China has started the world's biggest compressed-air power storage plant in Jiangsu province.
This plant can store a lot of energy, like 2,400 megawatt hours, and can power 600,000 homes.
It works by pumping air into underground caves at night and using that air to make electricity during the day.
China is building more of these plants to help use more renewable energy like wind and solar power.
The government wants to add a lot more energy storage by 2027 to support its green energy goals.
China's largest compressed-air power storage plant has begun operating in Jiangsu province.
The plant has a capacity of 2,400 megawatt hours and can generate 600 megawatts of power.
It can meet the annual energy demand of 600,000 households.
The plant stores energy by compressing air into underground caverns at night and releasing it during the day to produce electricity.
China aims to add over 180 gigawatts of new energy storage capacity by 2027 to support its green transition.
