India's Spice Sector Focuses on Tech, Traceability for Future Growth
Imagine India's spice companies are like chefs who need to make sure their food is super safe and good for everyone.
They had a big meeting called the National Spice Conference to talk about how to make their spices even better.
They decided that using new technology, being able to track where every spice comes from (like knowing exactly which farm it grew on), and building trust with customers are the most important things.
The leaders said that making sure their spices are grown in a way that doesn't hurt the planet and can be produced in large amounts is key to being successful.
They also talked about making sure the food is safe from the farm all the way to your plate.
The goal is to make sure farmers get the most benefit and that everyone can rely on Indian spices.
The 4th National Spice Conference 2025 in Guntur highlighted technology, traceability, and trust as critical for India's spice industry.
Organized by the World Spice Organisation (WSO) and All-India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF), the conference theme is "Spice Route Ahead – Safe, Sustainable and Scalable."
WSO Chairman Ramkumar Menon emphasized that scalability will determine future industry leaders and sustainability is essential.
Dr. Paresh Shah of FSSAI stressed the importance of supply-chain integrity and the need for "no gaps in trust or traceability" from farm to fork.
Discussions on Day 1 focused on food safety, sustainable farming, and AgriTech solutions to empower farmers and build a responsible value chain.
