India Sees Significant Rise in Net FDI Inflows to $10.1 Billion
Imagine India is like a big shop, and foreign investors are people who want to buy a piece of that shop.
Between April and August, more people bought pieces of Indian businesses than before, with the total value of these purchases, after considering when people sold pieces back, reaching $10.1 billion.
This is much more than the $4.6 billion they bought in the same months last year.
Overall, the total amount of money foreign investors put into India this year is also higher.
The services industry, like IT and other customer help businesses, got the most investment, followed by technology companies.
Singapore was the country that invested the most money.
However, some experts think that because there are uncertain times around the world, these investments might not grow much more for the rest of the year.
Net Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into India reached $10.1 billion between April and August, compared to $4.6 billion in the same period last year.
Gross FDI inflows grew by 18.3% to $43.8 billion during April-August compared to the previous year.
The services sector received the largest share of FDI equity in FY25, attracting 19% of total inflows.
Maharashtra accounted for the highest share (39%) of total FDI equity inflows in FY25, followed by Karnataka and Delhi.
Singapore was the leading source country for FDI equity in FY25, followed by Mauritius and the United States.
