Emerging Markets Rally in Quiet Holiday Trading
Emerging-market stocks and currencies went up on Friday during the holiday season.
The MSCI index, which measures these markets, had its best day in a while and is up 30% for the year.
Some currencies, like the Colombian peso and Hungarian forint, did really well.
The Brazilian real had a small drop but then recovered.
This happened because investors are feeling good about the markets, and there's not much trading going on.
Analysts think that if the US dollar stays weak, these markets could keep doing well next year.
Also, Brazil's former president said he's supporting his son for the next presidential election, which affected the Brazilian currency.
MSCI's emerging-market index rose 0.4% on Friday, up 30% for 2025.
Technology sector led the gains in developing equities.
Colombian peso and Hungarian forint were top-performing currencies.
Brazilian real initially fell 0.5% due to political jitters but recovered.
Analysts predict EM performance will depend on a weak US dollar trend in 2026.
