India Reports Millions Under Treatment for Hypertension, Diabetes
The Indian government reported that over 11.1 million people with high blood pressure and 6.41 million with diabetes are currently receiving treatment.
These numbers were recorded between January and June.
The screening and treatment programs are part of a larger plan called the National Health Mission, focusing on primary healthcare.
The government provides free medicines and follow-up services to manage these conditions.
A nationwide screening campaign was also conducted earlier in the year to check people aged 30 and older.
Over 1.11 crore hypertension cases and 64 lakh diabetes cases are under treatment.
These figures were diagnosed and are under treatment from January to June.
The data was revealed by the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.
Screening and treatment are part of the National Health Mission's Comprehensive Primary Health Care.
