Divi’s Labs Q2 Net Profit Soars 35%, Driven by Forex Gains and Strong Revenue
Divi's Labs, a company that makes ingredients for medicines, had a really good quarter from July to September.
They made a lot more money and profit than they did last year, even more than people expected!
A big reason for this was that the money they made from selling things in other countries turned out to be worth more when they changed it back to Indian money, and they also got a special gain from trading money.
They make ingredients for both regular medicines (generics) and special, custom-made medicines for other companies.
The custom-made ones are growing fast because big medicine companies want them.
They are also working on making a lot of special ingredients called peptides, which are used for things like diabetes and cancer.
Even though prices for their regular medicine ingredients are a bit tough, they are good at managing their costs and making sure they have enough supplies.
They are also investing money to build more factories and are expecting even more business from companies that want to make their medicines in different places.
Divi’s Laboratories reported a 35% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹689 crore for the July-September quarter.
Consolidated revenue grew by 17% year-on-year to ₹2,860 crore, surpassing analyst expectations.
The company recorded a foreign exchange gain of ₹63 crore, contributing to its profit growth.
Custom synthesis accounted for 56% of the product mix, while generic sales made up 44%.
Divi's is expanding its peptide manufacturing capabilities and is executing capital expenditure programs totaling an estimated ₹2,000 crore.
