Pixxel Raises $100 Million in India’s Largest Spacetech Funding Round
Pixxel is an Indian company that uses satellites to study Earth.
It raised $100 million from investors led by Temasek and Seraphim.
This brings the company’s total funding to $195 million.
Pixxel makes satellites that can see information ordinary satellite pictures may miss.
It plans to build more satellites and improve its Aurora software.
Aurora combines information from different satellites to create useful insights.
The company also wants to manufacture satellites more quickly in India and the United States.
Pixxel says its work can help governments, businesses, and researchers understand changes on Earth.
Pixxel raised $100 million in a Series C round co-led by Temasek and Seraphim.
The funding brings Pixxel’s total capital raised to $195 million.
Pixxel said the round was the largest single investment in an Indian space-technology company.
The company will expand its Honeybee constellation, Aurora software, optical imaging, and satellite manufacturing.
Pixxel operates six Firefly satellites and has contracts or projects involving NASA, the National Reconnaissance Office, India’s Ministry of Defence, and IN-SPACe.
