Nagaland CM Urges PAP Clearance for Hornbill Festival
The Hornbill Festival is a big event in Nagaland, India, that starts on December 1.
The chief minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, has asked the central government to quickly approve special permits for foreign guests from six countries.
These permits, called Protected Area Permits (PAP), are needed because of new security rules.
Without these permits, the foreign guests won't be able to attend the festival.
The chief minister is worried because the festival is starting soon, and he wants the government to act fast.
He also suggested that lifting the permit rule could help tourism and make it easier for people to travel to Nagaland.
Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio urges Union Home Minister Amit Shah for immediate PAP clearance for foreign delegates.
Hornbill Festival is scheduled to begin on December 1, with all preparations completed.
PAP clearance for delegates from six partner countries is pending with the MHA.
PAR was reintroduced in 2024 for Mizoram, Manipur, and Nagaland due to security concerns.
Rio emphasizes the importance of lifting the PAP regime to boost tourism and integration.
