Telangana Sports Coaching Fee Hike Sparks Parents’ Protest

Sports classes at government stadiums in Telangana have become more expensive.

The new fees started in September.

Swimming at one stadium went from ₹2,400 to ₹3,600 per month.

Other sports, such as badminton, tennis, skating, gymnastics and kabaddi, also became costlier.

Coaches and parents are worried that many children will stop training.

They say poorer and middle-class families may not be able to pay the new prices.

Some parents have created a social media group to protest.

A former international player asked the government to keep fees low.

Coaches fear fewer children will get the chance to become good athletes.
